Abstract

The chocolate gourami (Sphaerichthys osphromenoides), does not reproduce easily in the aquarium. José María Cid Ruiz, explains in this detailed article, how it is necessary to experiment with different filtrations by mobs and additives based on tannic, humic and fulvic acids, to provide them with the highly acidic and practically demineralized waters in which their courtships and spawning take place. It also describes how various environments were tested, modifying reliefs and flora to achieve an environment in which the incubating females did not interrupt the process. Various live foods, essential for their sexual development and maturation, were assiduously handled and cultivated. The author explains how is the larvae development until to get a new and healthy generation of this beautiful and delicate gourami.
